Overview
This training is designed for you who are looking to take the next step as a yoga teacher and space holder. It is the perfect way to advance your teaching skills and help you develop a deeper sense of body reading – helping you to guide and cue your students deeper into their practice in a more intuitive and personalised way.
Body reading is the skill of seeing and understanding others movement patterns beyond the basic alignment cues. It is the skill that teaches us to see not just WHAT the student os doing, but WHY they're doing it. Every student enters a pose with an intention or a motivation—whether conscious or unconscious. Some intentions help deepen a practice, while others create imbalance, limit progress or lead to injury.
You might have seen students in downward dog desperately trying to get their heels to the ground - this is an intention. But in the process of doing that, they forget about the rest of the body, and compensate their movement in shoulders, spine and hips.
What if I told you, that you can learn to see these intentions in every single movement and shape?
Once you learn to recognise these subtle patterns, you can begin to give your students more personalised and impactful cues to either change their intention, or deepen their intention. Moreover, you will be able to use intentions and motivations in your sequences and classes, to help build up towards your peak or your theme.
Begin to guide your students with greater precision, clarity, and impact - not from your own body, but from what you see in theirs.
This Training will teach you:
-
Deep-dive functional anatomy to understand movement patterns.
-
We will deep-dive into functional anatomy and talk about how it unfolds in movement.
-
Talk in depth about alignment, and discuss when it matters and when it becomes a myth.
-
Discover the difference between mobility vs flexibility and how to utilise both.
-
-
Reading and interpreting students intentions in their practice.
-
There’s always something that motivates movement, learn to see the ‘why’ in every movement.
-
The same pose will look different depending on your motivation - so what is alignment even?
-
-
Guide students with intentional cueing based on what you observe, not from your own body or from what you have memorized.
-
Meet your students where they are in their practice.
-
Give them the ‘aha’ experience every single time you guide a class!
-
hold space for your students and show up with presence.
-
-
Verbal and hands-on adjustments to help students enhance body awareness.
-
We will dive into Verbal cueing workshops.
-
Supported by a Hands-on adjustments workshop.
-
Develop the sensitivity to know when to adjust, when to cue, and when to step back.
-
-
Seeing beyond the physical body
-
understand how the nervous system affects movement, and learning.
